What’s happening in 2012
Published January 5, 2012 | Happy New Year everyone! The Debs are already hard at work on their spring activities; the team has many upcoming events such as competition, Spring Show, and a trip to Disneyland! We are going to have a very fun and fast-paced semester. Check the calendar section on our website for upcoming events through April.
Spring Show ads are due on January 10th. Please help support your Debs and buy an ad for the Spring Show program! If you need an ad form or a digital version of the template, send an e-mail to DashingDebs1@gmail.com. We appreciate your generosity and support of these amazing young ladies!
Our Booster Club meeting for January will take place on Monday the 9th at 7pm in the GHS Library. Come join us and learn how you can help out this spring. Our awesome parents and families are what help make the Debs such a successful team.
Playoffs- Round 2
Published November 12, 2011 | Garland represented well on Friday: the halftime, the game, the sidelines and the fans ALL rocked! Your Owls football team defeated Berkner 24-7, advancing to round two of the playoffs versus Mesquite HS. The fabulous Garland Owls are headed to Cowboys Stadium this week, Friday 11/18 and the game begins at 6pm. Advance tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults, $10 at the game. Parking is 10 dollars. No online sales this week. Come on out to see the beautiful Dashing Debs perform Olympia on the Cowboys’ star!
G-town is Playoff Bound
Published November 3, 2011 | “Olympia”, our playoff routine, was learned at camp in the summer of 1995 and was performed during the regular football season. The crowd loved it so much, we brought it back for playoffs. The crowd still loved it so much, they requested to see it again during the 1996 football season. We agreed that if we made the playoffs, we would bring it back again and thus it became a tradition. In the past 17 years, we have been to the playoffs 15 times and have taken “Olympia” on the road with us every time. During the 1999 football season when the Garland Owls became state champs, we performed “Olympia” six times. Our final performance that year was at the Houston Astrodome where 39,102 people came out to watch. That game was the sixth highest attended game in all of Texas state history. People all over the state of Texas and beyond have had the chance to see our fabulous routine and we are very proud to show it off. At school it has come to be known as the “circle routine” and as our Owls progress, people start asking me if we are going to bring it back another year. Last year, one of our teachers at the game told the girls they needed to take half-time very seriously because it was a beautiful routine that always gave her chills and had a reputation of greatness for almost as long as these girls had been alive. I think that is a great way to summarize it!

Football Season is underway!!!
Published September 8, 2011 | It’s hard to believe, but the Garland Owls are playing their third game of the season tonight! The Debs have already been busy with practices, performances, pep rallys, and the Labor Day Parade. Come see a fabulos halftime show tonight at Williams Stadium at 7pm against Lake Highlands High School. Pictures from all of the aforementioned events will be posted soon. Let’s go Owls!!!
Garland Owls Television Commercial
Published August 8, 2011 | The Garland Owl Football Program is excited to announce:
NBC and Wolf brand Chili have selected the Garland Owls Football Program to be in their nationally televise commercial. If team supporters are interested in observing or participating in the commercial, they need to be at Homer Johnson Stadium at the below times this Tuesday (8/9/11). We welcome all Owls supporters to make this as grand as possible!
If fans could get there around 4:30-5:00 that would be ideal; if they can’t, just get there as soon as possible. They are going to begin shooting with the moms, cheerleaders and spectators at 6:00 PM. Please bring your Owl memorabilia and some water.
Location: Homer Johnson Stadium on Centerville Rd. Garland, Texas
5:30pm – wrap parking lot shoot
6:00pm – begin shoot on football field with Moms & Cheerleaders
7:30pm – wrap shoot with moms & cheerleaders
8pm – Talent call for Football players
8:30pm – begin shooting football players
11pm – Wrap shoot
12am – Tail lights
Summertime Fun
Published July 13, 2011 | The Debs are working hard this summer and having a lot of fun doing it! At the start of the summer, the new team welcomed the Baby Debs with their traditional “New Girl Sleepover”. Lil’ Sis’s met their Big Sis’s, Deb rules and traditions were taught to new girls, and a LOT of pizza was consumed! Pictures from the evening have been posted under the media tab.
A couple of weeks later, the 5 Deb officers attended the ADTS Officer Training Camp in Rockwall for 3 days. The officer group wowed both the staff and their fellow camp mates, earning All American Officer Team of the Day and Most Admired Team of the Day on the second day of camp. At the conclusion of the camp, the Deb officers were awarded a Home Routine trophy, Creative Choreography award, Super Sweepstakes, and All American Team of the Week. Katelyn, Alee, and Jasmine made the All American Dance Team and Alexis and Nancy made All American Honorable Mention Dance Team. Katelyn was also awarded the Outstanding Performer award. The team will soon resume practice and will attend line camp the last week of July. Make sure your calendar is up to date; you won’t want to miss a single event! The football schedule has been posted for the fall- dates/times/locations have been added to the Deb calendar. Thank you for your continued support of our team… we can’t WAIT to wow you at football games!

Welcome Baby Debs!!!
Published May 7, 2011 | Concluding the end of an exciting tryout week, the Debs welcomed 26 new Baby Debs to the team today. A total of 81 girls comprise the team for the 2011-2012 year. Congratulations to all the new babies and welcome to the team!
